Welcome to Ponca
Nebraska’s 4th oldest town! Established in 1856, Ponca is located in the northeast corner of Nebraska and is the county seat of Dixon County. The city is nestled in a valley two miles from the banks of the Missouri River, a national recreational river. The community is served by scenic State Highway 12, and U.S. Highway 20 is nine miles south of the community. Ponca is 24 miles northwest of Sioux City, Iowa, and 115 miles north of Omaha, Nebraska. With the addition of the Newcastle-Vermillion bridge, Ponca is a short 25 miles to Vermillion, SD and 90 miles south of Sioux Falls, SD. |
